Worship

There is no higher or glorious calling than for God’s worship in our lives—in our work, play, the way we love, sing, pray, and relate to those around us. When we worship, we are witnesses to the transformation of not only our own souls, but the strengthening of union between Christ and His Church. Worship changes our hearts, impacting the way we live, which changes our families, communities, neighborhoods, business relationships, and our city

Ancient and Future

At City Church, we have a bold, joyful, historic and participatory style of worship, which is a careful blend of the ancient and modern. Our worship strives to be high and majestic, yet warm and personal. Our worship reflects the ancient roots of our faith as well as the sounds and language of our city.

Our worship is meant to both build up and challenge the believer and also welcome and challenge the skeptic. Our worship is a “safe place” for people who are investigating the Christian faith or who doubt Christianity altogether. We are a community where you can belong before you believe.

Therefore, City Church seeks to be a church intoxicated with the liberating free grace of the Gospel. Such intoxication will free us from the tyranny of pretense, self-excusing or defending, and the fear of confronting our hypocrisy. And it will free us to serve, sacrifice, and obey our loving Father.

We are committed to becoming the kind of community that presses the story of the gospel in our lives through real relationships and thus becoming a community that expresses love, loyalty and service in one another’s lives and that seeks to love the city as God loves it, extending grace and mercy far as the curse of sin is found.

Relationship with Christ and each other will be the most important component of our ministry. We want to understand the biblical story, a Christian view of the world and live lives reflective of our understanding of grace. We will engage these tasks through worship, study, friendship and service.
