Rev. John Hardie

Pastor Hardie grew up in San Antonio, and studied at Tulane University and Virginia Theological Seminary. He met his wife Melanie and was ordained here in Corpus Christi in 1987. They married and moved to California in 1990 to be on staff at All Saints, Beverly Hills. He became rector and headmaster of St. Philip’s, Uvalde in 1995 before returning to Corpus Christi in 1999 where he was the rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for twenty-two years. He is active in a local Pastoral Fellowship called "The Moral Compass Initiative," and in overseas work with the Church of Uganda. He enjoys gardening, fishing, hiking and writing music.
Melanie has a leading role the Women's Ministries at City Church. She and John have three adult children: John, Julianne Bridges, and Bethany Greenwell and five beautiful grandchildren Kylie, Fisher, Jesse, Carter, and Audrey.
Rev. Jack Carter
Theologian-in-Residence / Pastor Emeritus; Elder
Reverend Carter is a life long resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Corpus Christi with a B.A. in English and a Masters in Education Administration. He founded Disciplehouse Church in the mid 1970’s and continued as Senior Pastor for many years. Rev. Carter also served as Academic Dean at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas. In 1989 he returned to Corpus Christi to start Church of the King where he served as Senior Pastor until 2006. He is the founder of what is now Annapolis Christian Academy and after serving as the first Headmaster of ACA, remained on the board of Directors until 1998. Rev. Carter currently resides as Theologian-in-Residence and Pastor Emeritus for City Church
Steven Hansen
Director of Music and Media

Steven works full-time as the Director of Music and Media for City Church. He came to Corpus Christi in 2008 from Austin, TX where he worked as an Audio Engineer and Music Producer. He has a degree in Audio Engineering from Full Sail University and taught sound recording technology for many years at Del Mar College. He is a Composer and Multi-instrumentalist with two published albums and numerous producing credits. Steven and his wife Angi have four children, Valor, Honor, Selah and Trinity. Steven has a passion for Christ centered worship and a heart for discipleship. He enjoys surfing, fishing and live music.
Pete Hansen

Pete grew up in a military family and lived on both coasts growing up. He was converted to Christ as a senior in High School in Annandale Virginia, before attending and graduating from the Naval Academy. Flight training brought him to Corpus Christi in 1974, were he met and married Kelly Carter. Pete and Kelly have 4 children, 17 great / grand children. Navy service was followed by a 40+ year carreer in technical sales which brought the family back to Corpus Christi in 1989 to join and support the formation of Church of the King, which became City Church in 2006. Pete and Kelly share a passion for prayer, corporate worship, Biblical Worldview training, men & womens spiritual formation and small group discpleship. Both are graduates of the Colson Fellowship Biblical Worldview, leadership course, and have established a Colson Affiliate Regional training center at City Church.
Chris Pinedo
Elder
Chris Pinedo was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended the University of Michigan Law School and in 1993, he and his late wife Gabriela moved to Corpus Christi. They raised four boys, all who attended Annapolis Christian Academy. Chris has been a licensed attorney for 37 years and continues to practice in the areas of products liability and personal injury. Cases he has handled have been reported in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Texas Monthly. Chris says he could retire, but he enjoys the practice of law too much. Chris has a passion for men’s ministry and has been active in men’s ministry through Reach Ministries where he serves on the Board. Chris is also a speaker at Men of Valor, a city-wide monthly men’s ministry. He enjoys sports, history and fishing. He and Molly have ten grandchildren.
Mary Warner
Office Manager/Bookkeeper (Part-time)

Mary Warner is the part-time Office Manager/Bookkeeper at City Church, combining organization, a heart for service, and faithful dedication. As a retired school counselor and math teacher, she spent much of her life helping students grow in wisdom and confidence; supporting them with compassion and love. In this new season, she considers it a blessing and joy to serve the Lord quietly behind the scenes, with integrity and grace. Outside of her work at the church, Mary is a proud mother of three grown children and a delighted grandmother to eight grandchildren. Spending time with family is something she cherishes and one of her greatest blessings. She also enjoys reading and spending time near the water. A favorite verse is Colossians 3:23 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Anthony Carlisle

Anthony serves as the part-time Communications Director at City Church, overseeing communications, sign-ups, website maintenance, social media, and other essential details that help keep the church connected and informed. He also works full-time as a Compliance Officer for a large national bank.
Anthony has a passion for worship and counts it a joy to sing on the worship team whenever he can. He and his wife, Christy, stay busy raising their four adorable children: Eleanor, Easton, Olive, and Owen. One of his favorite passages is Psalm 139, a reminder of God’s intimate knowledge and care for each of us. In his free time, Anthony enjoys following NASCAR and golf.
Mike Wilson
Facilities Manager (Part-time)

Mike Wilson serves as the part-time Facilities Manager at City Church, where he oversees the day-to-day maintenance of the building and grounds. His attention to detail and care for the church environment help create a welcoming space for worship, ministry, and community gatherings. Outside of his role at the church, Mike enjoys life in Corpus Christi—especially spending time along the bayfront, sailing, and fishing whenever he gets the chance. He is happily married to Debbie Wilson, and together they enjoy the beauty and charm of coastal living. One of Mike’s favorite Bible verses is John 16:33, which reminds him of the peace and victory found in Christ even in the midst of life’s challenges.
Lane Pepper
Elder
Lane was raised in a Uvalde County farming family and Christian home. He graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Financial Management, has earned an MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and carries the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Work brought Lane and his young family to Corpus Christi in 2010. He currently serves as Chief Credit Officer at Texas Farm Credit. Shortly after their move to Corpus Christi, Lane and his wife, Paula, plugged into City Church. He took a leadership role in church finances starting in 2012 and has served as Board Treasurer many years. Lane was a long-time and active member of the diaconate. He enjoys teaching, values discipleship, and is ready to help with any outdoor project. Lane and Paula have two very active teenage sons, Lance and Layton. They enjoy escaping to their place in the Hill Country where the air is drier and much manual labor and hunting takes place.
Jim Mathews
Elder
Jim Mathews grew up in Cotulla, Texas, and moved to Corpus Christi in 1975, where he began attending Disciple House Church with his brother Jerry and his wife. In 1976, he married Gigi Carter, and together they raised three children in the fellowship that later became Church of the King and is now City Church. In 1978, Jim began working for Norman Howard, the owner of Howard’s BBQ and a fellow church member, and in 2015 he took ownership of the restaurant when Norman retired. For more than 40 years, Jim has faithfully served the church as Deacon, Elder, again as Deacon, and now once more as Elder. He loves the church because it loves God the Father and the Son and wholeheartedly seeks the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
